      Ducati Multistrada 1200 Features

      • Engine Features - The New Ducati Multistrada 1200's incredible valve performances of engines are only possible because of Ducati's unique Desmodromic system, where valve closure is activated mechanically. The gearbox and final drive ratios have also been optimised to enable reduced fuel consumption and achieve increased riding comfort by reducing vibration. The Multistrada 1200 features an oil bath clutch with slipper function and super-light feel at the lever. Its design uses a progressive self-servo mechanism that presses the plates together when under drive from the engine, enabling the reduction of the clutch spring rates. The Testastretta 11° features vacuum die-cast crankcases, formed using Vacural® technology, a process that achieves a significant weight saving and ensures consistent wall thickness and increased strength. The Testastretta 11° is an engine for all environments and the perfect 'game-changer' for the four-bikes-in-one concept.

      • Chassis Features - The New Ducati Multistrada 1200 signature Trellis frame uses large diameter, light gauge tubing with two central cast aluminium sections and a Trellis rear subframe. The high pressure, die-cast, magnesium front subframe reduces the high, frontal weight and contributes to chassis feel and control. Every single component of the Multistrada 1200, therefore, has been designed to achieve weight reduction without compromising its load-bearing capacity. The ‘ergonomics triangle’ of handlebar, seat and footpegs has been designed for both the rider and passenger, optimizing comfort while providing a commanding and upright riding position. The single-sided rear swingarm is made using a single piece casting, with fabricated and welded sections creating a strong, hollow and lightweight component that contributes considerably to the 1200 Multistrada’s sure-footed handling.

          Ducati Monster 696 Features

          • Engine Features - The New Ducati Monster 696 produces 80hp (58,8kW) @ 9,000rpm and 50,6lb-ft (7,0kgm) of torque @ 7,750rpm. The new crankcases hug the gearbox internals much closer to create a smaller and more compact outer profile and achieve considerable weight savings over previous cases. Providing a deep and rich exhaust tone within current noise and emissions regulations is no mean feat, but the Monster 696 definitely provides the L-Twin sound famous of Ducati. Its bold, high-level twin mufflers also make a striking style statement. The exhaust system on the 696 has one Lambda probe dedicated to each cylinder, enabling precise fuelling for a smoother power delivery as well as complying with current emission regulations. At high rpm it would be almost impossible for the valve to follow the steep closure profile of the cam lobe if it were relying upon a normal valve spring. With the Desmo system, the valve is closed mechanically with the same accuracy as it is opened, enabling steep cam profiles and radical cam timings.

          • Chassis Features - The New Ducati Monster 696 heavily tapered and deeply sculpted fuel tank cover allows maximum comfort and control. Light tubular steel Trellis frame with aluminium rear sub-frame is the visual and structural backbone of the Monster. Delivering unparalleled rigidity with minimal mass, the chassis design is pure Ducati in its ingenuity and simplicity. The Monster 696 has a net benefit to the overall light weight of the machine. The dry weight of 161kgs (355lb) has dramatic effects on not just manoeuvrability and ease of use, but also by contributing directly to increased performance, braking and acceleration. Outstanding grip and unbeatable riding comfort are ensured by a 43 mm Marzocchi upside down stanchion fork, which provides 120 mm of suspension travel. A Sachs monoshock unit with progressive linkage provide a wide spectrum of both spring and damping settings. Lightweight 3-spoke aluminium alloy wheels increase agility and reduce rider effort. The 3.50x17 front wheel wears a 120/60ZR tyre while the 4.50x17 rear wheel runs 160/60ZR rubber.

            Ducati Hypermotard 796 Features

            • Engine Features - The New Ducati Hypermotard 796 engine is a completely brand new, lightweight Desmodue power unit designed to provide the torquey, smooth and enjoyable character famous of all Desmodromic L-Twins. The APTC wet clutch gives a slipper type action that prevents destabilizing of the rear-end under aggressive down-shifting and also gives the extra benefit of a super-light feel at the lever, a great benefit in stop-start city traffic or during longer journeys. The new engine produces an impressive 81hp (59.6kW) @ 8,000rpm and 55.7lb-ft (75.5Nm) of torque @ 6,250rpm. The 2-1-2 catalytic exhaust system uses an efficient pre-silencer configuration with twin lambda probes providing finer fuel mapping and Euro3 conformity. The new crankcases hug the gearbox internals much closer to create a smaller and more compact outer profile and achieve considerable weight savings over previous cases.

            • Chassis Features - The New Ducati Hypermotard 796 has an improved frame layout eliminates almost all of the forged elements used on previous Hypermotards, replacing them with precision machined components. The lightened frame retains its torsional strength to become even more agile and easier to handle than before. The rear suspension of the Hypermotard uses Ducati's signature Hypermotard single-sided swingarm. The robust solution contributes considerable engineering style and, on this type of motorcycle, is a feature unique to Ducati. 17” 5-spoke wheels by Enkei are produced in lightweight aluminium to keep the unsprung weight low and handling, braking and acceleration performances high. Suspension duties up front are taken care of by very capable 43mm Marzocchi forks, which are gripped by completely redesigned top and bottom fork clamps. The rear suspension is managed by a Sachs suspension unit featuring adjustable spring preload and return damping, allowing adjustments for riding style or load.

              2011 Yamaha WR450F Features

              • Engine Features - The New Yamaha WR450F 449cc liquid-cooled DOHC four-stroke with five titanium valves delivers more broad power than ever, with high over-rev capacity and crisp, linear throttle response. Special WR camshafts, carburetion, intake ports, exhaust, etc., all work together to produce an engine with mind-boggling low- and midrange power. Special crank balance factor and AC generator provide super-smooth running. A piston oil-jet provides increased cooling for long life. Dry-sump lubrication system carries the oil reservoir inside the engine cases, for excellent mass centralization and simplified plumbing. 39mm Keihin® FCR flat-slide carburetor with Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) produces ultra-precise fuel/air mixing and lightning-quick throttle response. No-tools airbox uses hinge-type quick-open lid. Battery rides low for excellent handling. Digital CDI ignition system delivers more precise spark and monitors engine speed to ensure optimal timing for fast, strong response during hard acceleration. Large-capacity radiators with reinforcements ensure maximum cooling efficiency with great strength. Wide-ratio five-speed transmission uses strengthened gears and YZ450F-spec multiplate clutch, good for quick-hitting power in the woods, as well as eye-opening top-end power. Lightweight exhaust system maximizes engine power and allows hassle-free replacement of oil filter. Aluminum muffler with USFS-approved spark arrestor looks trick and keeps things light. Works-style clutch lever features oversize barrel adjuster for easy, on-the-fly adjustability of lever/cable play. The New Yamaha WR450F equipped with an electric start ensures easy restarts.

              • Chassis Features - The New Yamaha WR450F's cool YZ-derived bodywork and a thick seat look great and feel excellent on long rides. ProTaper® aluminum handlebar in forged triple clamp for light weight and great comfort. YZ-inspired aluminum frame helps reduce weight while optimizing mass centralization. An extensively tested assembly of aluminum forgings, castings and extrusions, the WR frame retains legendary Yamaha handling and response. Removable aluminum rear subframe is constructed of square-section tube for reduced weight. Fully adjustable air/oil-separate 48mm cartridge-type fork delivers precise, fade-free handling, fork protectors provide excellent tube protection. Tapered swingarm adopts YZ-style linkage for controlled, compliant rear suspension action. Lightweight axle and holders reduce weight in a critical area. The KYB® shock provides 12.0 inches of travel with adjusters for high and low speed compression damping, rebound and spring preload—and features a larger piggyback reservoir for excellent damping and fade resistance. Wave-style brake discs reduce unsprung weight and provide excellent performance. Front and rear calipers with aluminum pistons deliver strong stopping power with progressive feel. Lightweight 21-inch front and 18-inch rear Excel rims provide exceptional durability and help reduce unsprung weight for optimal suspension performance. Premium Dunlop® knobbies offer unbeatable, competition-spec traction and excellent wear.
